Construction Meter

The City of Early understands the need for water access during construction projects and accommodates this by issuing temporary fire hydrant meters.

To request a hydrant meter, contractors must:

  • Submit a completed application. Click HERE to obtain application

  • Pay a $500 deposit

  • Schedule the installation of the meter on a designated fire hydrant

  • Ensure a backflow prevention device or air gap is in place

Billing Information:

  • $100 base charge

  • $15.00 per 1,000 gallons of water used

  • Public Works will read the meter once per month during the billing cycle

Important Reminders:

  • Contractors are not permitted to remove the fire hydrant-mounted meter

  • Please notify City Hall when the meter is no longer needed
